I took a walk through an old, historic ghost town called St. Elmo.  It's heyday was from 1880-1890, but the town fell on hard times and eventually was abandoned.  This wasn't an officially trail, just more of a walk about the town and various buildings.  Popular destination for adventurers and day trippers.

The Decalibron Loop is a trail that connects four 14ers that are in close proximity to Kite Lake.  They are Mt. Democrat, Mt. Cameron, Mt. Lincoln and Mt. Bross, hence the term DeCaLiBron.  I hiked them in reverse order (i.e., counterclockwise) because the scree and gravel are loose on Mt Bross so going up it with fresh legs was easier than trying to come down it with tired legs that could easily cause a loss of footing and result in a fall/injury.  Mt. Bross is on private land, so you can no longer go to the very top.  Instead, you have to take a bypass that takes you about 100-200 feet below the summit, but it still counts as a 14er even if you can't get to the very top because that would be trespassing.

The first 2 miles up to the Bross Bypass was very physical, but Class 1.  Mt Lincoln was a little more challenging (Class 2), but very doable since the only climbing was a short stretch at the very top.  Mt. Cameron was basically a simple Class 1 hill walk from Mt. Lincoln, but it would be much harder summitting if you were hiking clockwise.  Descending from Mt. Cameron was very scenic and fun, but once I got to the saddle I realized going up Mt. Democrat was going to be a cardio Class 2 workout.  Route finding, at times, was challenging, but there were a lot of other people on the trail so I basically followed them when I was uncertain of which way to go.  After summitting Mt. Democrat, coming back down through the scree was slow and tricky.

All in all, it was  a great hike and it felt good to bag four 14ers in one fell swoop.
